Google rolls out the ability to use Google Fi via eSIM to current cellular service customers on iOS, provided their iPhone supports it (via 9to5Google). The latest version of the Google Fi iOS app and an iPhone XR, XS, XS Max, 11 series, or 2020 SE will be required, as these phones offer dual SIM functionality. Last month, Google added support for eSIM to new Google Fi customers.

While the release notes for the Google Fi iOS update yesterday state that "you can now activate Fi on select iPhone devices via eSIM," some Google Fi users on Reddit have had to uninstall their Google Fi app and follow the instructions on the Google Fi website to attach a cellular plan to their iPhone to enable eSIM to function.

Google has not responded to a request for comment on when eSIM could be rolling out more broadly for current Google Fi customers on iOS.
